Here’s how you can get better Brain Performance, eyesight, reproductive health, and overall wellness from these superfoods.
Have you noticed that some plants have some resemblance to some body parts? This might not just be an error of nature, there’s some unwritten code in those looks that are good for us.
If you are told that there is a way to have better output and performance, and better health, without breaking the bank or doing drastic things, will you be interested in it?
A certain concept in science called the doctrine of signature, or doctrine of similitude teaches us that we come along with instructions on how we interact with food, and how these foods can help enhance our lives in every way, including giving us better brain performance. It states that certain foods can give us instructions on their benefits to the human body based on their look, smell, or taste. In simple terms, plants resembling parts of the body can be used to cure ailments or enhance the performance of the parts of the body they look like. This doctrine is as old as pre-1540, when the first person who was ascribed to write on it, Paracelsus lived.
It is based on the premise that God marked objects with signs or signatures for their purposes and this has made ancient cultures use plants that look like some organs to treat the organs.
Despite the fact that some of these claims have been proven false by science (many of the plants have been proven to be toxic, but they are a little population), many of them have been verified to be accurate by modern research and contemporary science.
While I won’t advise that you take any herbs or plants that look like organs for the curing of ailments or enhancing performance, it’ll be good to consider the plants that are already part of your staple diet, that have been proven to be contributing to the wellbeing and better performance of some organs. It is also great to note that the plants with the recorded toxicity are not part of our staple diet but merely ones gotten from the wild to use for treatment.
In this piece of work, we want to see some of those plants that look like certain human body parts; which have been eaten by generations before us and are now proven by modern research and peer-reviewed studies to benefit those human parts. As a high-performance executive, your body organs need to be in peak condition to be able to help you deliver the needed results. Ill health is a performance drainer and surely not to be desired. So any boost to get you in optimum shape is to be desired.
Blueberries and the eyes.
Blueberries look like tiny little eyeballs and they are rich in anthocyanins, which are antioxidants proven to bolster collagen structure specifically in the retina. Johanna Seddon, M.D., an expert on macular degeneration, and coauthor of Eat Right for Your Sight, writes that these violet-hued gems provide extra vision protection and help boost eye structure.
Researchers found that blueberry-supplemented vision might not have improved eyesight at night, but it helped subjects recover to normal vision quickly after exposure to bright light. This was more pronounced in subjects who already had eye issues.
One funny thing you might be hearing today is that sunburn doesn’t just affect the skin, but also the eyes, the UV rays lead to DNA damage in the lens tissues, and this is a big concern to people who are living in the tropics. However, in this study conducted with rats, blueberries led to a decrease in the oxidative stress in the lens tissues and DNA damage induced by UV-B radiation. So blueberries have a potential protective effect on visions.
Also, a study done by the Russian Academy of Science reports that blueberries can significantly reduce the risks of cataracts in rats.
Blueberry juice looks so much like blood. Studies found that those who consume the juice had better responses to changes in blood pressure, meaning that their arteries were working better. However, the downside of taking the juice is that you can also add a lot of sugar to your body through it, about 30 grams of sugar per 250ml of the juice. Unless you desperately want sugar, you can continue taking it, but if you don’t need some sugar, you might want to stick to fruit, with Fibre, which will reduce your sugar intake.
If blueberries are hard to find in your area, like mine, don’t worry, there’s a better way. African black plum is almost neglected in places where it exists in abundance. Researcher Dr. David Byrne, of AgriLife Research, said tests revealed one plum contains about the same amount of antioxidants as a handful of blueberries. And to realize those plums are found very cheap is a great gift. Pharmacist Keziah, my wife, did some research on locally sourced African black Plum and found out that it’s packed with these antioxidants that give great benefits to us.
Avocado and the reproductive system.
Avocado has a great resemblance to reproductive organs. Some history has it that the first recorded people who used avocado called it the same name as the testicle. An avocado cut mid-way and having a seed inside is similar to the picture of a womb containing a fetus. Also, the avocado looks a bit rough like the scrotum
According to this study by Comerford et al, who are researchers from UC Davis, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Ohio State University, and McMaster University, Avocados are unique among fruits and vegetables in that, by weight, they contain much higher amounts of the key nutrients folate and potassium, which are normally under-consumed in maternal diets. Avocados also contain higher amounts of several non-essential compounds, such as fiber, monounsaturated fats, and lipid-soluble antioxidants, which have all been linked to improvements in maternal health, birth outcomes, and/or breast milk quality. They went on to recommend Avocado as a staple food for the periconceptional period, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.
Some cultures use the seeds as traditional female contraceptives and sterilizers. And this study proves that it alters female hormones in rats and can distort the female reproductive profile.
Avocado is a rich source of Vitamin E which is a very important factor in male fertility and the health of the sperm. If you’re trying to conceive, you might want to include it more in your diet.
This 2021 study conducted with rats, showed that avocados had a significant influence on reproductive health, particularly in increasing spermatozoa quality, including concentration, motility, and morphology of sperm. The higher dose of avocado given, the higher quantity and quality of sperm resulted.
An avocado-rich diet also reduces the VLDL levels of the body, making circulation better. A great circulation system is needed for sound male reproductive health. Reproductive health challenges are big sources of stress in our lives. People who have challenging sex lives and results, seem very distracted at work and exude low confidence in life.
Kidney Beans and the Kidney.
As the name sounds, this food is shaped like a kidney and is very important to the kidney. Whenever we hear of the kidney, we normally think about urine formation, but the kidney does much more than that. One of the Kidney’s biggest works is to aid the vascular system. Your kidney is a major regulator of the circulatory system, as it sends messages via hormones to either relax or construct your blood vessels. This is why kidney failure is very lethal, it makes the blood system helpless and dysfunctional. Kidneys also produce the hormone that signals the bone marrow to make new red blood cells. Red blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen across your body. So a failed kidney means a failed oxygen delivery.
So we are checking the effect of kidney beans not just on the kidney, but also on the blood system.
This randomized controlled trial shows that kidney beans relax blood vessels several hours after eating.
The kidney bean is so versatile that it has been studied for its contributions to different ailments like colon cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. So even if you don’t like beans, you might want to eat more kidney beans. It is a great salad ingredient that adds a different kind of taste to your salad.
Cocoa and the Teeth.
In the cocoa fruit, the beans are the most useful parts. When dried and fermented, the beans give rise to cocoa solids or cocoa butter from which our lovely chocolate bars and chocolate drinks are made.
If you view the fresh beans inside the pod, it resembles the teeth and according to the doctrine of signature, cocoa has been beneficial to our teeth. What does the research say?
Cocoa has a lot of benefits for oral health. Cocoa is home to plenty of chemicals that ensure our teeth are at their best. The tannins in cocoa can prevent bacteria from sticking to our teeth, the polyphenol neutralizes bacteria. The flavonoids may slow the progression of tooth decay.
Some research has shown that cocoa has better cavity-fighting power than fluoride, and the latter has been touted as not being too safe for overall health.
This study in India reported that Cocoa Bean Husk, CBH, extract rinse, is highly effective in reducing mutants streptococci counts and plaque accumulation when used as a mouth rinse by children. It can feasibly be incorporated into chocolates, chewing gums, mouth rinses, and beverages to prevent dental caries.
The good thing is that this CBH extract has always been a waste product in the manufacturing of chocolate. If well incorporated, it can lead to safer and more efficient mouthwash options. The only side effect was the bitter taste of the mouthwash.
If you think your teeth need some help, consuming raw cocoa can be a boost. If you must go for the chocolate, go for dark chocolate with less than 6-8 grams of sugar per serving. Remember that normal chocolate with high sugar can also pose a risk to your teeth so don’t just eat normal chocolate for good oral health, go for cocoa instead.
Cocoa isn’t just good for the teeth, it’s a superfood with over 300 beneficial chemicals. One of the most significant chemicals in cocoa, theobromine is so important in ancient times it was named so. The name Theobromine in Greek means food of the gods.
An in vitro study reported that Theobromine is better than fluoride in preventing tooth cavities. Theobromine-containing pastes, which are already in production, show less remineralization potential than fluoride pastes, but the long-term usage risk of the latter is not to be feared with using Theobromine-containing pastes.
Another study conducted by the scientists of Tulane University regarding theobromine, which checked if theobromine’s effect on the crystalline structure of teeth has an additional benefit when used in the same concentration of sodium fluoride that is generally used in the toothpaste, it was seen that theobromine was better in its action
Walnuts and the human brain.
Have you ever looked closely at walnuts after opening them? You’ll see they look so much like the human brain pictures we see online, walnuts compact in their own hard shell, just like the brain does in the cranium. And there’s a lot of evidence to show that walnuts have good contributions to the brain and why as a high performer, you should take walnut more seriously. There are quite some studies that show this. For example, this study reports that Substantial evidence from animal and human studies suggests that dietary consumption of walnuts (1–2 oz per day) can improve cognitive function and also reduce the risk of other diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, depression, and type 2 diabetes, which are risk factors for the development of dementia.
In this study carried out in Spain, Incorporating walnuts and other nuts, at the rate of 30g/day (15 g walnuts, 7.5 g hazelnuts, and 7.5 g almonds), in diets of healthy adults have led to a significant increase in memory of humans.
In another clinical trial study involving older women, a higher long-term intake of walnuts was reported to be associated with better cognitive performance.
Another study in the US, performed by Peter Pribis and colleagues on 64 young adults examined the effects of short-term (8-week) dietary supplementation with walnuts on cognitive performance. Parameters like Memory, mood states, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning were assessed and there was a significant increase in inferential verbal reasoning in the subjects on the walnut-enriched diet.
So what can we say? Take some walnuts if you want better brain function, and if you are a top executive, you definitely do.
Sweet Potatoes and the Pancreas.
The Pancreas isn’t a popular organ like the heart, brain, and kidney but it’s very important to the body. It’s the site for the production of several hormones, like glucagon and insulin, and enzymes like gastrin.
You probably know insulin from diabetes right? This is what insulin does in the body. As you eat foods that contain sugar, both natural and artificial foods, the sugar molecules are emptied into the bloodstream and then are taken by some special vehicles to the cells where they are used for energy. If they are not taken to the cells, you won’t have energy, and worse still, the sugar will just lie lazily around and cause a high pressure in the blood flow (a kind of holdup in traffic) and this can be fatal. These special vehicles that take the sugar molecules away from the blood are insulin and they are produced in the Pancreas.
So yes, the pancreas is very important to you. It helps you in having energy and also helps to prevent some major problems for you.
Despite sweet potatoes having a high glycemic index, these researchers have studied and seen that high potato consumption does not associate with pancreatic cancer.
A study in this food and nutrition research journal checking the effect of potatoes on diabetic mice shows that sweet potatoes diminish hyperglycemia and more importantly, regenerate pancreatic islets. This experiment was done on insulin-dependent diabetes, and the regeneration of these cells is a ray of hope for the normal function of insulin.
Also, this study shows that sweet potato reduces insulin sensitivity in rats. Insulin sensitivity is also called insulin resistance and is a case
So, for dietary diabetes management, switch from starchy foods to potatoes. Potatoes are so underrated, maybe because they are cheap foods. But they are super in every way and a gift to diabetic patients.
Apple and the Heart.
It is always said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. and there is plenty of evidence supporting this claim that this doesn’t need citation.
Apple has been found to effectively reduce total body cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Levels of lipid hydroperoxide, a biochemical involved in the formation of heart-clogging plaques, and C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation. All these are heart markers that are implicated in cardiovascular diseases.
In 2020, an article in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, that included 16 studies involving apple consumption found an array of heart-related benefits. The authors concluded that eating one medium apple a day may help lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and inflammation.
Apples have a rich source of pectin, which blocks cholesterol absorption in the gut and encourages the body to use rather than store it. They also contain polyphenols –which are antioxidants that prevent cellular damage from free radicals and contribute to heart health.
Papaya and female organs.
Papaya is a wonderful fruit that bears similarities to different female organs. The whole fruit can be compared to a well-grown female breast, while longitudinally cut papaya very much looks like a vulva. I got this second idea from the cover of this sex education book and thought that there is much resemblance then went to search for the contribution of papaya to the vulva cum vagina and wasn’t disappointed. There are many claims, which I have not been able to verify scientifically, but this one caught my attention.
This study has it that papaya demonstrated anticancer activity in breast cancer cells, and it was the only fruit to show the activity against breast cancer, among 14 fruits and vegetables tested. So this could be a great boost for someone battling breast cancer. Ripe pawpaw has been declared safe food for breast cancer survivors and patients undergoing treatment.
Some purported breast enlargement drink is made from papaya and milk, but I did not find any science to back these claims.
Also, a study done in Indonesia reports that consuming papaya fruit effectively enhanced breast milk production in nursing mothers. This is because it contains a galactagogue, which is a class of substances that can help increase and improve breast milk production. So nursing mothers who need help with milk just got more natural help.
This study reports a difference in the effect of papaya fruit consumption on the smoothness of menstruation for students who are given and not given. that means that if you are having a rough time seeing your period, either irregular menstruation or painful menstruation, you might find help through pawpaw.
Conclusion.
This list is not exhaustive, there are more signatures than this work, or any single work can carry. We also have connections between Broccoli and the health of the Bronchiole of the lungs, Ginger and the human body, and Cranberry juice and the blood. These natural foods are great blessings to us, and if you want to be a high performer, you have to make natural plants of all kinds part of your staple diet. This can reduce your need for drugs and supplements drastically, and also help you have better health and performance. Studies upon studies, show the need for more consumption of freshly sourced plant food for great health. Despite your busy schedule, make time to incorporate these foods into your diet, to the ratio of 70:30, favoring natural foods. This will give you better output and performance. Some executives invest a lot in supplements to help their performance, which is good, but a better way to high performance is having a winning diet.
And when taking plants, do variety, choose colored ones, and get the edge over others, by looking at their shapes to make predictions on how they can bring desirable effects to you. You will be right majority of the time, and when you are not, you are still better off, because any plant food has some goodness in it.
Which one of these will you be getting first, and why? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments.
